Do you think the world would be better if there was no religion?

That is a very interesting and complex question. Religion is a powerful force that can influence people's beliefs, values, and actions in both positive and negative ways. Some people may think that religion is the main cause of conflicts and violence in the world, while others may see religion as a source of peace and harmony. 🕊

According to some research by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), religion is not a major driver of peace or conflict within countries¹. Other socio-economic factors, such as corruption, inequality, gender, and intergroup cohesion, have more significant relationships with the level of peace than religion¹. However, religion can also play a role in shaping cultures and systems, and defining people's notions of belonging². Therefore, religion can have both positive and negative impacts on peace, depending on how it is practiced and interpreted.

I think that the world would not necessarily be better or worse if there was no religion, but it would be different. Religion is not the only factor that affects peace, and there are many other sources of conflict and violence that are not related to religion. Likewise, there are many other sources of peace and harmony that are not related to religion. What matters more is how people use their religious or non-religious beliefs to promote justice, compassion, and understanding among themselves and others. 🙏

What do you think? Do you have a religious or non-religious worldview? How does it affect your views on peace and conflict? I would love to hear your thoughts. 😊
