iPhone 14, iPhone SE Sales in EU to Be Discontinued Due to Upcoming Regulation: Report

Apple is set to discontinue sales of the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, and third-generation iPhone SE in the European Union (EU) to comply with upcoming regulations requiring USB-C ports for wired charging on new smartphones. This mandate, effective December 28, 2024, aims to standardize charging interfaces across devices.

In response, Apple has begun removing these Lightning port-equipped models from its online and retail stores in EU countries. For instance, the iPhone SE and iPhone 14 series are no longer available on Apple's Swiss online store, with similar actions expected across other EU nations.

Authorized resellers in the EU may continue selling existing inventory of these models until stock is depleted, but no further restocking will occur. This strategic move ensures Apple's compliance with the new regulations while phasing out older models in favor of newer devices featuring USB-C ports.

Looking ahead, Apple plans to introduce the fourth-generation iPhone SE with a USB-C port, anticipated to launch in early 2025. This aligns with the company's transition to USB-C across its product lineup, as seen with the iPhone 15 series released in 2023.

These developments underscore Apple's efforts to adapt to regulatory changes and streamline its product offerings in the European market.
